Environmental Green Plumbers

Moyle Plumbing & Gasfitting has completed several training programs to promote the benefits of water conservations and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

We encourage our clients to use water efficiently and promote water saving technologies.

Caring for our water

Moyle Plumbing & Gasfitting can assess your household water consumption and recommend products and methods to help save water such as flow restrictors, rainwater tanks and water efficient appliances, which in turn will help you save money.

If you live on the Southside of Brisbane including Beenleigh, Logan & North Gold Coast, contact Moyle Plumbing & Gasfitting for advice on water saving.

We recommend all taps and toilets to have a 5 or 6 star WELS water rating.

Water Compliance - Water Efficiency & standards (WELS) scheme

What is the WELS scheme?

WELS is Australia’s water efficiency labelling scheme that requires certain products to be registered and labelled with their water efficiency in accordance with the standards set under the national Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards Act 2005.

Choosing more efficient products helps Australia save water

Over 1/3 of water savings comes from choosing water efficient showers. Around 34% comes from washing machines and 23% from toilets and urinals.

By choosing more water-efficient products in the home, we will save water and reduce our water and energy bills.

Read more information on the WELS website.

Do you have a rental property?

Who pays for the water use?

If your rental home complies with the RTA’s (Rental Tenancy Agreement) recommendations for water charging, then you can pass the full water consumption cost onto the tenants.

If you live Brisbane Southside, including Beenleigh, Logan & North Gold Coast, Moyle Plumbing & Gasfitting can:

  • Flow cup test all hot and cold taps

  • Check for water leaks

  • Inspect the hot water system

  • Take a water meter reading

  • Write a detailed report regarding your water usage

If your home complies with RTA recommendations, a water efficient certificate can be issued. If your home requires any water saving devises to be installed, we can contact you or your agent from site with estimated costs or provide a free quote.

Water Saving Devices

After our recent drought, Australia Government has changed the way we treat our water resources. Because of the long-term effects of the drought, many state governments are attempting to "drought-proof" their states with more permanent solutions.

Water saving products and appliances

Water saving appliances and products can save you a lot of money and make a big difference to how much water we use.

For many of the products in your home, you will find out how efficient they are by looking at the label. On the label you will see a star rating and a water consumption or water flow figure. The more stars, the more water efficient the product is. You can find this label on:

  • dishwashers

  • washing machines

  • showers

  • taps

  • toilets

Water efficient products around your home

  • A 4-star WELS rated dual-flush toilet uses more than 60% less water than a standard single flush toilet.

  • A 3 star-rated showerhead can save thousands of litres of water per person each year. These use as little as 8 litres a minute, compared to standard showerheads which use around 20 litres a minute.

  • Water efficient taps, tap aerators or an in-tap flow regulator can save up to 50% of the water you use from the tap as well as providing softer water with less splashing.

  • A 5 star water efficient washing machine can save your household up to 24,000 litres of water a year.

  • A trigger nozzle on your hose in the garden ensures water only goes where it's needed and helps stop overwatering.
